Tensile Structures from Poly-Ned - Tensioned fabric, membrane, roof, dome, tensile structure, podium |
Tensioned
fabric or, rather, a membrane as a roof, a canopy or a dome is also
referred to as a tensile structure. Tensile structures can be used on
an existing building or as roofing for a property, podium, etc. They
can also be used as a tensioned roof. A tensile structure gives a
completely different look to traditional construction!
Tensile structures and canopies are nearly always designed as a one-off
solution for each project. Interested? Please contact us to receive an
extensive explanation of the options that we can supply for your
specific situation.
You
can find more information about materials and their installation in our
documentation. Background information about tensile structures and a
selection of the materials that are often applied by Poly-Ned can be
found here.

'Sport
and the experience center ''De Scheg'' was looking for a suitable
shelter for the area within the 400 meters of the ice rink. In this
way, the skaters will have more shelter from the Dutch weather. The
sports company of the municipality, together with Witteveen + Bos
picked a design, which ultimately chosen. In a co-creation between
Construction Of Wines and Textile Architecture Company Poly-Ned was
this idea developed. Construction company Van Wijnen was responsible
for the foundation and substructure, and Poly-Ned was responsible for
the engineering, detail design, manufacture and assembly of the
membrane. In thhe design was chosen for a high quality PVC-coated
polyester membrane. Major advantage over conventional construction, is
that under this type of roofing a pleasant, bright space is created
where no additional lighting is needed during the day.
Nevertheless, the roof is safely walkable for cleaning and maintenance. To prevent from further incomming rain as much as possible, there have been placed polycarbonate covers on all tops. This
sports center has become the largest tensile structure of the Benelux
countries, about 6000 m2! This tensile structure result in more
protection for the skaters and a futuristic look. |

Description
These
corridors ensure (departing) passengers to get dry in the arrival hall.
The installation of the structure was a difficult feat as such because
the hundred of thousands of people that pass through had to continue
being able to use the adjacent entrances and exits. The tent has also been built as the smallest tensile structure of the Netherlands at the Madurodam museum.
The
whole structure including the foundations has been installed by
Poly-Ned at a depth of no more than 50 cm full of pipework. A greater
depth was not available because of the train tunnel below. Horizontally
adjustable foundation beams can be found crosswise between each
tensioning point. |

Poly-Ned
placed a tensile structure, which is an architectural addition to the
new main square at the UT Twente. This tensile structure of 900 m2 is
not just a dry run but also symbolically connects the various buildings
of the campus together. A tensile structure is the name for a tensioned
fabric in the shape of a canopy.. Poly-Ned designs, manufactures and
assembles these objects themselves. Own engineers, draftsmen and
technicians take care of each other the entire process of drawing fray
to tightening the last nut. |

Over
the courtyard of the Librije's Hotel in Zwolle Poly-Ned realised
a cover / tensioned structure. The square is thus functional throughout
the year. The unique feature of this structure is that it can be
easily (de)mounted. The structure can be tensioned with the help of an
impressive hydraulic cylinder (length 8 m!), which is sunk a centrally
placed ornament. In this ornament, the whole structure, membrane and
liners, are stored.

women's prison in Zwolle - which Jonnie and Therese Boer have
established their Librije Hotel. |

Precontraint® 1202T
Description
A
roofing solution was needed between factory buildings to show lifting
equipment - a showroom measuring 19 x 67 meter. The tensile structure
that was used also determines the image for this company along the
motorway. The idea was that customers could say that you had to go to
that “tent at Assen''.
Poly-Ned - Project Crepa Assen - Tensile Structure made of pvc coated polyester The
tent is not connected to the existing structure. The connection with
the adjacent buildings was too expensive and, therefore, they chose to
use tied down V-masts. This was not an obstacle in view of the nature
of the customer’s operations. The projection line of the 3 masts was selected randomly to ensure that the structure was given a playful image. Precontraint® 1202T was used with a Teflon coating and self-cleaning properties. Indirect
lighting on the bottom of the membrane produces a fragile image. The
lighting is suspended halfway at the bottom and has been neatly
concealed. |

realised a gallery roofing of 320m2 for the new clubhouse. This
roofing is composed of four canopies, each with a span of 8.00 meters
and 10.00 meters wide, which were mounted wooden beams. Despite
the extremely flat design, the drainage is guaranteed in the membrane
near the wall. The use of high Precontraint 1002 enables a high
transparency. To clean the roof one can walk across the membrane, only
when on a leash to current standards. The accompanying photographs show
the roofing (nearly completed) during construction
