An air cushion roof (or an air cushion wall) is a temporary or permanent solution based on a very low weight, made ​​of high quality technical textiles. An air cushion is custom-engineered by Poly-Ned or together with consultancies and / or engineering firms.

You will find examples of solutions where aesthetic (including organic and 3-D) design and light technology aspects can play a role. The applied material is described and a short summary is given for each project.

Description
This “air cushion roof’’ serves as a temporary roofing underneath the escalators until a permanent solution is realised during the next (building) phase.

Description
An air cushion roof (with a diameter of approximately 6.3 meter) is involved in this project that has been applied to a laboratory of a school. The combination with the self-supporting in form manufactured steel sandwich panels makes a remarkably light construction possible.
The pneumatic roof has been given a very flattened off form in this project.
An additional protection has been built into the roof to prevent disasters involving rainwater from occurring. This roof has been operational now for more than 4 years to everybody’s satisfaction.

Description
The requirement of the customer was to realise an ultralight roof. A tensegrity (i.e. tensional integrity) structure was developed for this project to be applied on top of the EFTE air cushion roof. This combination ensured that an extremely light roof could be designed. This was further elaborated together with the architect.
